Whatever retail space you have, one of the most important parts of your design will be the window space. Creating the right space to dress from the start is hugely important, and using retail designers who are going to be able to offer you more than just a few panes of glass in an otherwise uninspiring wall will make the job of making interesting focal points of your window displays much easier.

However, once the retail designers have created you the perfect setting for your displays, there is still a lot of work to do. Many stores will simply create previews of the items they have inside and leave it at that. Whilst this may indeed drag a few people in, there are plenty more things that can be done if you want to attract as wide a range of customers as possible, and often this will involve thinking outside the box.

Sometimes you don’t even need your own products in your window to create attention and in turn see profits rising. Instead, you can focus on other aspects of the industry you work in. For instance, a music store could look at getting artists to play in place of window displays and have the music pumped out to passers-by. Not only will this quirk bring people to the store, but artists will get to promote their music and in turn their will be huge attention and possibly media buzz at the same time. The same principle can be translated into almost any industry imaginable.

The right retail display is hugely important, and having the right people to design these for you is vital. However, don’t think that a retail display has to conform with the usual expectations. Instead, think big – and different - and you will almost certainly find it yields much better results.
